Hi all, been reading the forums for a while now.  I've always found myself interested in the non-road elements of the roads, such as service plazas, rest areas, tool booths, etc.

I'm just old enough to remember the tolls on the CT Turnpike (though NOT old enough to have ever paid one as a driver  :-P), so if you have questions about them, such as how many booths at each plaza or how many tokens were in a 'roll', let me know.

Welcome to the board!

Welcome to the forums!

To see some old maps and photos, go here: http://emuseum.chs.org:8080/emuseum/ and search for "highway", or "turnpike", etc. Includes a CT Turnpike guide circa 1961/62; a drawing of the Arrigoni Bridge under construction; a 1923 map with the state's first numbered highways, and more.

My first SF/horror short story collection is available: "Young Man, Open Your Winter Eye"

Welcome!  I'm also from the same general area.  I'm currently living in Manhattan, but I went to college in New Haven, so I've spent a lot of time up in Connecticut.

Sweet. Adding it to https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=5112.

PS: it's possible to get a full view and then use a program like FireShot to save: http://toolserver.org/~kolossos/image/zoomify.php?width=&height=&action=Submit&zoom=5&path=http://emuseum.chs.org:8080/emuseum/internal/media/zoomifyDispatcher/2005_187_0

I accept and respect your identity as long as it's not dumb shit like "identifying as a vaccinated attack helicopter".

@ MARC_IN_CT: Greetings! I'm close to Hartford. I myself was never on I-95, I-395 or CT 15 when they were tolled. I was on the Charter Oak Bridge a few times in its last days with a toll (in the car with mom when heading up to Maine).

As for that website, Kevin sure needs to check it out! :)
