I haven't visited any states yet. So I go with countries:

1993: Born in Spain
1995: France (Just barely, didn't entered for good until around 2005)
Sometime around 2003: Andorra
2009: Portugal
2010: Italy

Edit: Spain, region by region:
1993: Born in Aragon. Catalonia.
1994: Valencian Community
1995: Navarre
1998: Canary Islands
Around 2003: Castile and León
2004: Basque Country, Cantabria
2005: Rioja
2006: Castile-La Mancha, Madrid community, Region of Murcia
2007: Balearic Islands
2008: Asturias
2009: Galicia

Only two to go. Andalusia may fall around Easter, and Extremadura is out of the plans for the time being.

Please note that I may mention "invalid" FM channels, i.e. ending in an even number or down to 87.5. These are valid in Europe.

My problem is that at least 40 of my states would be pure guesses. I didn't keep track too well of what year I went most places.
1983: NJ, NY (probable)
1983 or 84: CT
1984 or 85: PA
1985: PR
1986 or 87: FL
... stuff
2000: TX
2001: LA
2004: OR, WA, AK
2008: HI

Yikes, what on earth were you doing back in the 90s that results in so much uncertainty?

In my case this was easy since my family never traveled any significant distance unless it was to go on vacation. Furthermore, none of those trips were particularly ambitious or complex and all of them are well documented.
If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

As with many, some early states/provinces are guesses.  I completed my set of 50 states in 2006 with Hawaii.  Still missing the Canadian Maritimes and the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

1977: CO, IL, IN, IA, MO, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, TX (road trip to NM, CO)
1978: DE, DC?, FL, GA, MD, NC, SC, VA (first road trip to FL)
early 1980s: CT, RI, WV, QC
1985: AZ, CA, ID, KY, MN, MT, NV, SD, UT, WI, WY (first XC road trip to CA)
1989: KS, MI (Yellowstone road trip)

I'd have to ask my mom to dig back through 30 years of records to find when individual trips took place, and I don't really care.

This isn't going to be easy. Some early ones are approximate, but here goes:
1951: IN (born there), OH (relatives there that we visited regularly)
1954: IL, IA, SD
1955: KY
1956: PA, NJ, DE, MD, DC, VA
1957: MI
1959: NY, ON
1964: MO, KS, CO
1965: CA, WI
1966: TN, MS, LA, AR
1967: CT, RI, MA
1969: OK, TX, Mexico (I don't know the state names, but the major cities were Monterrey, Mexico City, and Acapulco)
1974: NC, SC
1976: WV
1978: FL
1979: NV
1980: MN, WY
1982: WA
2006: GA
2009: AL

I didn't count "visits" to a couple of airports that would have moved that state earlier in the list. It doesn't seem like a visit if you don't get out of the terminal.

Takumi

1986: Virginia
1990?: North Carolina. I remember a few early trips to Raleigh and Wanchese around then. It may have been earlier.
1994: Tennessee
1997: South Carolina, Georgia, Florida
1998: Maryland
2000: DC, West Virginia, Pennsylvania

hm insulators

This is a fun thread! Let's see here, not counting California where I was born in 1961:

AZ: Sometime when I was a little boy, say 1964 or '65. The second time was in 1997 when my parents moved here from Virginia, then
several trips to Arizona before I moved to Phoenix in 2004.
OR: 1977; a family trip to visit my brother who was living in Salem at the time.
HI: 1978, then my parents and I moved there in 1979. I moved back to California in 1986; my folks to Roanoke, Virginia of all places
   in 1993.
NV: 1987 or '88
UT, CO, WY, MT, ID and a tiny corner of WA: 1993. Because the old Dodge I owned then wouldn't make the long trip, I rented a car
and made a big loop through those states; my objective was an insulator-collector's convention (yes, there are such conventions,
hosted by the National Insulator Association; Truvelo has been to some, also) in Denver that year. I also did OR and NV that trip.
VA, MD, PA, NC, DE, NJ, WV: 1994 to visit my folks in Roanoke, Virginia (flew into Charlotte, NC from LAX, then changed planes
to Roanoke; I did some driving around North Carolina, too. This was to visit my parents in Roanoke, then I drove to another
   insulator convention in Pennsylvania.

For good measure, one trip to Taiwan with my then roommate (who is originally from there) and a couple of his buddies.

I'd rather be a child of the road than a son of a ditch.

Gesundheit.

My list:

1985: born in NY
1988: moved to NJ
sometime before 1992: WA, CT and maybe some more that I can't remember
1992: PA, OH, IN, IL, WI, MN, SD, WY, MT, ID
1993: DE, MD, DC, VA
94-97: ND, RI, MA
1998: MI, ON
1999: IA, NE, OR
2000: VT, NH
2001: NC, SC, GA, FL
2002: PQ, ME, WV, MO, KS, CO, UT, NV, AZ
2003: CA, BC, AK

(May be off on the years in a couple of places, but I think I have them all in the right order at least.)  So no new states in the past decade, buuuuut... I'm driving from Seattle to Florida and back in May/June, so I might be able to knock off the rest of "lower 48" this year.  Then I'll just need to start planning a Hawaiian vacation....
