PA SR 100
« on: July 05, 2009, 11:36:23 PM »

I took PA 926 today for a change from US 1, and for those not in the know, it had a brief multiplex with PA 100 before 100 was truncated back up to Exton.  Well, I found one remnant of the old 100 there.  Westbound at former 100 north, the West 926 assembly is on the left side of a signpost clearly meant to hold another shield assembly.  All of the other shields were standalone 926's with no evidence of the 100 having been there.  Any other 100 remnants lying around?  (I was heading east, trying to make time, and just in front of slow cars, so I wasn't about to turn around for a photo.  But I would like to head back and drive old 100 at some point.)

I rode on the former section of Pennsylvania 100 many times in the 1990s, but did no photography of it then. Fortunately I was able to get at least one image on a return visit in 2001:

What was the last reassurance marker southbound, just ahead of the Delaware state line. Photographed 12/19/01.

Damn! Where have I been?  :ded:  I didn't know PA 100 had been wiped off the books for most of Chester Co. :-/

The truncation took place in 2003.

Having been on old PA 100 many times after PA 100 was decommissioned there, south of US 1, there is no evidence of PA 100 at all. North of it, no clue. I know there is this though:
http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&hl=en&ll=39.873393,-75.591404&spn=0,359.99433&t=h&z=18&layer=c&cbll=39.873477,-75.591412&panoid=it5QIB3tAq76XvDXw2FQuQ&cbp=12,198.92,,1,1.04
A PA 100 shield used to be there, but now there is an open space which tells someone that there is or was a shield there. That us on old PA 100 south approaching US 1 in Chadds Ford.
