I-280 south to I-680 north in San Jose. :)

:-D

Ah yes, that's a smooth one that could be done safely at 80-85 MPH (except the speed limit is 65...)

I-95 N Bound to I-295 in New Castle, DE
I-95 N Bound to I-495 also in New Castle at part of same complex interchange.
I-80 E Bound  to I-280 in Parsipany- Troy Hills, NJ
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

I-505 and I-5
Same direction (NB to NB, SB to SB on both ends) movements of I-405 to I-5 in Oregon (though keeping in mind the speed limit is only 50, and assuming non-sucky traffic)

JustDrive

5/505 is also very smooth.

I didn't include 5/580 because although NB 5 to WB 580 is a straight line, SB 5 defaults onto the rest area south of the interchange.

I-680 to eastbound I-80 in Iowa is fairly smooth.  Following eastbound I-80 through that interchange is a problem because there's a lane shift involved.  I believe all the other movements are smooth although there may be a speed limit drop going from I-680 to westbound I-80 and the reverse movement is also a left exit.  In Omaha, I-480 to I-80 west and vice versa are fairly smooth (unless there's construction).

LOL. South-west and east-north are (at least what I meant) reverse movements

You can also include the I-95/495 Southbound split at the PA-DE state line.

Another fairly smooth I-95/495 transition would be in Salisbury, MA (Northbound merge/Southbound split).

I'm surprised that nobody has yet mentioned I-93 South to I-95 North and I-95 South to I-93 North (aka the through-128 (now US 1)) movements in Canton, MA.  Yes, it wasn't orginally planned/built for such; but nonetheless it's been there for nearly 40-years.

To the OP, I drive back and forth between Columbus and Atlanta a lot (see my profile pic).  I don't even turn off my cruise control to take that exit/merge in either direction.

In south Florida, the interchanges between the Turnpike and I-75, and I-75/Sawgrass/I-595 are pretty big and spread out making for really smooth transitions.

Also both I-75/275 in the Tampa Bay area.

Good evening to you all.

Good night, something doesn't match for me here :sombrero:.

Since I live nowhere near an interstate, well, you know.
Supporter of the construction of several running gags, including I-366 with a speed limit of 85 mph (137 km/h) and the Hypotenuse.

Please note that I may mention "invalid" FM channels, i.e. ending in an even number or down to 87.5. These are valid in Europe.

I-240 EB to I-40 EB in Oklahoma City. You would be forgiven for not even knowing it's happening until you see the I-40 assurance shield.

QuoteAll of the exits of that nature are handled really well in the Manchester area. The exits onto the Everett Turnpike and NH 101 are also pretty smooth.

I'd disagree on one part...to stay on southbound 293 at 101/Everett Tpk requires some slowing down and a hairy left-side merge.

A few that haven't been mentioned yet:

- I-494/I-694 Woodbury, MN (seamless transition)
- I-94 West/I-494 in Maple Grove, MN
- I-10 West/I-59 in Slidell, LA
- I-10 East/I-12 in Slidell, LA

Well, you could use autopista to autopista transitions.  :sombrero:

NJ55 to NJ42, same thing. slight speed drop.
Except it drops to one lane before the merge with 42 and there is perennial congestion there. The reverse movement (42 to 55) *is* smooth, with a speed *increase*.

I-95 North to I-495 North in DE is pretty seamless.

Both ends if I-196, in both directions

I-75 to/from I-275 south end (nb to nb and sb to sb)

I-75 to/from I-475, south end

I-75 sb to I-675 north end

And easiest of all, I-75 sb to I-375 and I-375 to I-75 nb

(If we are allowed non-Interstate freeways, then I'd include US-127 to I-496, both ends both ways.   And I-75 sb to US-127 and US-127 to I-75 nb.)

SSOWorld

I-39 NB off of I-90 (Cascade) in Portage, WI speed kept at same rate
I-39 SB off of I-90 (Cherry Valley) in Rockford, MN less so but there.

Atlantic City Expressway to GSP, on the outer ramps, not the loops. Multi lane ramps that can be had at speed.

Smoother than 80 to 287 in that area is 80 to 280.

I wouldn't have included this, because while there's a certain grace to how these movements work, they nearly all involve harrowing curves on narrow roadways.

(It's times like this that I lament the lack of an easily linkable clip of Michael McDonald's declaration "Sweet Jesus that's smooth!" from Yacht Rock episode 9.)
