The earliest I've seen is the inset on the 1938 official, and by then, US 78 was already routed along Ponce de Leon.  It seems like it would've originally gone through the downtown CBD, maybe using DeKalb-Decatur-Marietta.  Does anyone have an earlier map that sheds light?  Thanks...

Here's one from a 1932 Rand McNally road atlas.

Nice... thanks!  So US 78 did originally go thru downtown, and US 23 did originally use Peachtree... good to know

I remember trying to research that not to long ago as well.  I thought that the US highways always went around the CBD.  I didn't see that 1932 map.

I accept and respect your identity as long as it's not dumb shit like "identifying as a vaccinated attack helicopter".
