You shouldn't mark counties you haven't been to on the map. It counts them as visited and gives you an unfairly high number on the main leaderboard and throws things off if you want to use the compare-against-another-roadgeek maps.

As for me I have 364 counties clinched at the moment. 77 of those are in Oklahoma, which I have finished all counties of. I also have DC done :P My next most-complete state is Missouri, where I have 47/115 counties for 37.4%.

Only a measly 10% of the total. Low end of the totem pole FTW!

So many roads...so little time.

froggie

Got most of everything east of the Mississippi.  It's tough breaking that Great Plains barrier when you're stationed on the East Coast, though...

I have over 2900 counties, including everything east of the Mississippi, west of the Rockies, north of I-94, and south of I-20.  My remaining counties are all in the middle of the country, which like Froggie means I have to go well out of my way to add to my totals.

It helps that I've been at it a long time, used to live in California which built up my Western state totals, and also had most of summer 2008 off so I could knock off almost 400 counties last year (the pace has slowed considerably this year).

Also, I have done very little travel outside North America, my *countries* total is only seven (including two visited only as a baby, being shown off to my Italian grandparents).  I know I'm way behind at least Froggie on that score.

I'm definitely not near 2900, but here are my totals...

Alabama: 36
Arizona: 5
Arkansas: 28
California: 4
Florida: 19
Georgia: 27
Illinois: 39
Indiana: 17
Kansas: 1
Kentucky: 32
Louisiana: 21
Michigan: 12
Mississippi: 69
Missouri: 23, plus the city of St. Louis, which is an independent city
Nevada: 1
New Mexico: 4
New York: 2
Ohio: 24
Pennsylvania: 1
South Carolina: 1
Tennessee: 26
Texas: 26
Wisconsin: 3

So, 421 plus St. Louis. I'm planning a few future road trips in the next year or two, so hopefully, I'll add a few to my totals.

Hot Rod Hootenanny

Been stuck at 815 for awhile.  Thinking about taking taking US 61-US 425-US 165-Ark 44-US 49 from Baton Rouge to Helena, Ark. (blues festival in Arkansas this coming weekend) just to pick up a measly 6 or 7 counties/parishes.
That and I keep meaning to pick off St. Bernard Parish so I can have the Gulf Coast (at least from Galveston to Mobile) "completed."
Please, don't sue Alex & Andy over what I wrote above

I need Plaquemines and St. Bernard to complete the section from Jefferson Parish to Ft. Walton Beach. I'd thought about going to New Orleans today, but it started raining.

2047 so far. Sadly I did a lot of traveling without thinking about counties until just over a year ago (when I clinched most of California and Florida). Prior to that, most of my trips left odd stranded counties here or there.

I realize that I've been to 434 counties and parishes, so more than the 421 plus the city of St. Louis that I thought I've been to.
