I see somebody re-added the IN-912 Cline Ave bridge, even though it hasn't been in existence for 7 years.  Sure, they are planning on replacing it, but they haven't even started constructing it yet (they are working on the offices first for the 'toll' bridge).  At least you can't route over it, but still, it shouldn't be shown on the map.

It's marked as "closed for maintenance".   I submitted an edit to change to "started" which would make is disappear on the map.   Pending Google moderation.

This change finally got approved last night.

I-295 around Fayetteville, NC is only signed as NC 295, not as an Interstate. It's also only open west to NC 24/87, not all the way to the All-American Freeway.
Mileage-based exit numbering implies the existence of mileage-cringe exit numbering.

The part to All-American Freeway is already marked as closed for maintenance, so navigation won't try to use it.

Noted this one while going through some old Mississippi pages on the site this week.
Mississippi 605 should be dropped north of the interchange with Mississippi 67. The alignment north and west (Traditions Parkway) is not a part of MS 605 and is locally maintained:

I've removed the MS 605 name.   A Street view signs say Tradition Parkway not Traditions Parkway so I left the singular name and removed the plural.

Colorado State Highway 196 should only extend from US-50 (south of McClave) to  US-287 (near Wiley).  Yet it's shown on Google Maps all the way to US-50 south of Hartman.  The portion between US-287 and US-385 was decommissioned in 2010, so it's halfway understandable.  But the portion west of US-385 hasn't been a state highway since 1970.

Wondering if some roadgeek on here had a little fun with historical data...   :hmmm:

I tried to edit the Fall Line Freeway (maybe-GA 540) south of Milledgeville since it's now open to traffic as of yesterday afternoon; the changes need someone to approve them and I may have missed a segment. I also tried to fix the eastern tie-in at GA 24 but to no avail.

Most of it is already mapped with construction status = started.   Goto mapmaker.google.com, Use edit, select segments to select the segments, then update the construction status to completed and submit the edit (include some notes in the note field as to why you are changing).   Since this is a regional highway priority it will require google approval whether you do it or a regional lead does it.

Goto mapmaker.google.com.  use edit, select segments to select a series of segments with the bad name.  then edit road names and choose "remove from all" next to the bad name.

And yes we've had some issues with people adding obsolete names for decommissioned roads.  Some people have trouble letting go.

I did that. As I mentioned in the post, I was hoping to alert TrevorB or someone else with the appropriate permissions to approve the changes and see if there's anything I missed.

Frankly the edit interface is way too clunky for anything beyond a single segment compared to either iD or JOSM. Guess I'll just stick to updating OSM...

I posted it on this thread instead.  That's what the thread is for.

Time to add the Willits Bypass (US-101 in California). It just opened.

The alignment of I-5 is changed a little because of the new Lakehead Bridge over the Sacramento River coming into Lake Shasta. That's been open for a while.

The Hinkley Bypass just west of Barstow has cut most of the N/S streets between CA-58 and Community Blvd. A week ago, only Dixie was open, and it looked like the Hinkley overpass would open very soon, and the Lenwood overpass shortly thereafter (after which Dixie will be cut). But Summerset, Fairview, Mountain View, Livingston are now permanently cut.

I-5 at the Antlers Bridge replacement is done. The bypasses will be a lot more work given the lack of recent satellite imagery in those areas.

There are a couple of things I noticed on Google maps tonight that I thought I'd post it here to see if it can be fixed. Both are in Florida, more specifically in Lee County (Fort Myers/Lehigh Acres area):

https://www.google.com/maps/@26.6634298,-81.6061943,13z

Joel Boulevard between Lehigh Acres and SR 80 is labeled as both CR 884 and SR 873 when it should only be shown as the former. SR 873 has been decommissioned since the late 1970s/early 1980s. I will say personally I enjoy seeing this decommissioned numbering, but it is an error nonetheless.

https://www.google.com/maps/@26.7279294,-81.599935,14z

CR 78 (North River Road) is mistakenly shown as SR 78 between SR 31 and SR 29 north of La Belle.

Published, give it a day to reflect on Maps.  (Doesn't mean Google might not revert it in their infinite wisdom.   :banghead: )

From what I can see Richel Lodge is a separate place from Red Lodge which is further down the road.

A google search found "The headquarters for the Bureau crew was located at a dude ranch known as Richel Lodge about 20 miles west of Red Lodge, Montana."

In PA (or at least in the Philly area), roads are being identified by Quadrant Route numbers, which aren't posted for drivers' consumption. These numbers shouldn't be the primary ID on maps, let alone during navigation.

Same thing was happening in OSM till I helped everybody get on the same page.

Got a doozy of nitpicking for you.

General area of discussion:

https://www.google.com/maps/@33.0959126,-86.0057162,14.75z

Prospect Road, which comes south off of AL 63 right to the east of AL 9, is a dirt road.  I do not believe Google Maps has it tagged as such.

Where Prospect Road peels off of Pearson Chapel Road per Google Maps further south of AL 63, it becomes a private road, at least by function.  There's a gate at the northern end at the split and, if you follow Old Ashland Highway from the south, which also becomes a dirt road near where Google has "Mount Pleasant Church" marked, you end up coming to this:

Prospect Road Alabama Google Maps Mistake

So, it's gated from both sides.

Pearson Chapel Road is also dirt from the split with Prospect Road down south to a point just north of Dillard Road.  Viewable on the satellite view.

...

I am uncertain about how all the road names work out here as well.  Where Google has Old Ashland Highway and Old Ashland Road intersect, I do wonder if the track east of that intersection is Prospect Road.  Still, there's no proof of that, other than a street blade indicating that Old Ashland Highway goes south at that T (i.e., there's no distinction in the field between Old Ashland Highway and Old Ashland Road).  Signage is, of course, nearly nonexistent otherwise; changing the names around would require further investigation.

Please note: All comments here represent my own personal opinion and do not reflect the official position(s) of NYSDOT.

cjw2001

The road attribute was already set to "unpaved".

Since there isn't any street view and no easy way to tell what's private vs public I changed the road priority from the split south all the way to old ashland road to be "terminal" instead of "local".

That will prevent the navigation application from trying to use that routing for any through traffic.
