Challenge: Post signs that have been crammed into a location where space is very tight.

This closes Monday's outstanding Challenge. From our own Steve Alpert:

(More on his page: http://www.alpsroads.net/roads/pa/i-279/s.html)

For today:
QuoteMarch 15, 2017
Challenge: Post official signs that aren't mounted and standing (e.g., damaged/blown over, or being installed, transported or stored).

Looking for signs "in the wild" only–no private home collections, businesses, museums etc.

The contractor that has been repaving streets here in Auburn for the past few years has an interesting approach to mounting work zone signs.  I don't think "leaning against a construction barrel" counts as mounted for this challenge. I've seen some tied to the construction barrel handle by wire too.

That's mounted...or is this for March 13? (I finally bit the bullet and closed that one, since people were restless about having it hanging around...) :spin:

Not installed or mounted, eh?  So I can just go up to the sign shop and take a picture of something up there?  Good enough!

Well, if it's displayed just for the sake of display, it's not quite in the spirit of "in the wild" that I was thinking of...but if it's the official sign shop...eh, like I said, open to interpretation!

Well, it doesn't say this is limited to shields, so how about a mix of text fonts?  Gothic and Clearview on the same sign (left).  This was from when MDOT installed a series of test/demonstration Clearview signs on a loop of downtown Detroit freeways in 2004.

Welcome signs are the first that came to mind as possibilities, so here are a couple.

Welcome to Vermont on I-93 North.  August 16, 2015.

Welcome to Illinois on US 136 East.  June 27, 2013.

It doesn't say shields, but it does say identical; I'm not sure why you'd want these two signs to be identical? In any case, it also says March 16; so that Challenge was already expired (unless you're traveling at the moment).
