In New York, this really isn't all that uncommon.  Here's North Road (NY 27/Suffolk CR 39) on Long Island:

Here's one north of Mio, Michigan (it should be "F-32"):

I like the look of that brown county route marker. Are they all like that there, or is there something special about that route? Second, that Buisness Loop 90 doesn't really count because it's not a state highway (well, it was part of MN-266 many years ago), but I'll allow it :D

the Taney 165 is just a dark blue almost purple, not brown. The don't normally sign county roads this way, but it's somehow connected to US 65.  BL 90 isn't necessarily a state highway, but probably ranks higher :p

Could've fooled me, that picture definitely makes it look brown. Would be cool, though, if the color were used on purpose for historic or scenic highways, or somesuch.

I have many pictures, but for some reason Flickr is not letting me upload anything right now. Hang tight.

It's working again now. sorry for being a clusterclown.

This street-view picture will later be replaced by three high-quality pictures of my own. Hang tight.
Now alternating between different highway shields for my avatar - my previous highway shield avatar for the last few years was US 76.

I bet you didn't expect a Midwestern state like Indiana to kick off this challenge.  This is IN-56 (clearly) at the start of an uphill section leading westward away from the Ohio River.

I can offer the examples of the first two such matches (though the first isn't quite at the intersection).  Can anyone continue with a 3/6 as a little sub-challenge?

Oh, um, I seem to have stumbled into this thread on April 9 before a new challenge has been posted. I don't know if this one has been done yet, but:

April 9: Road sign-style signs being used for something other than directing traffic on a road. Must be used as a sign (so nothing like using a sign to seal a hole in a fence or as a ramp or something). Examples: identifying a building or state DOT facility, advertising (so long as it's close enough that you could mistake it for a bona fide road sign), wayfinding in the hallways inside a building, signs directed at pedestrians in a rest area, etc.

For example, button copy can take the place of your pastor:
