I wonder if that Historic Loop 66 cutout on the green sign is still there in Kingman.  I know most of the signs in that area are now Clearview but I didn't go up that specific street the last time I was there.

Yeah, I'm not sure...I only saw that sign and then we headed East on I-40 from there.

It was there in October of 09- I drove by it at about 2 in the morning for the first time on my way back from Vegas to Phoenix and thought "wait- what? Did I really just see that?"

Per Jake's rules:

ooh, someone seems to have added a sloppy paint job to that replica to make it look like the real thing.

This one is (was) near Carthage... probably at Garrison & 4th  or Garrison & Central

Kind of a "hybrid" 71 sign: "Missouri" is round font, the rest is square font.

not a hybrid - that is a product of the Dominion Sign Company out of Virginia, that happened to have a round font set, width equivalent to Series C, that they used on the state names of all the signs they made.  1926-1939.  Note also the shield shape, which is different from the standard.

Around 1939 they got a standard collar die, but continued to use their fonts.

this was all well before 1945, when FHWA introduced the new standard round fonts.

Seriously, guys, can we stop leaving the 0 out? That's one of the base rules of the game, and if we're not going to follow the rules, we may as well just have a picture orgy thread.

We have five 606 and 660 shields right now. Still need 5 more before midnight or the game ends.

I can get us two closer.  Thank you WVDOH for adding ".0" to milemarkers now. :)

Last time it died was on 5/05. The x/0x dates are certainly the toughest.
If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

hbelkins

I personally think that the "0" should not be necessary. Who writes 6/06/10 when they are filling in the date on anything unless two digits are specifically required?

But since I didn't invent the game or the rules, I guess my opinion means squat.

Anyway...
