What clearly identifies a post as being yours?

  • "MA/NH" for multistate routes, or to a lesser extent, other state combinations in New England
  • Semicolons
  • Last paragraph entirely in parentheses, such as this post
  • Jumping into the middle of a heated debate without permanently taking a side, even if it's one vs. the rest
  • When quoting an image, manually dividing both the width and the height by 2
  • Previously, using the Google Maps API to embed an image or a street view (no longer works)
  • Pointing out that population distribution was different decades ago compared to now
  • Anything that says I don't drive

One thing that identifies a post as not being mine is having several paragraphs, other than lists or being the OP.

(I can think of several for other people, such as complaining about Illinois' government (Brandon) or explaining why a fictional proposal intended to be realistic won't work (froggie), but I'll leave the rest for everyone else to state.)

Probably only about two things are consistent about my posts:

(1) If there's a grammatical error, it's usually a two-letter word that I accidentally omitted.
(2) My love for New Jersey road and sign design.

If you just specify the larger of the two dimensions, the other one gets taken care of automatically.

Apparently US 99 from what I read regarding some of my post.  Probably any of the following:

-  Map links
-  Gribblenation links
-  Sign collection photos
-  Old alignments
-  CHPW article links

I edit my posts a lot after I submit them. Sometimes I ramble on? I don't know, this isn't something I've ever paid a lot of attention to. The spacing is also bad between paragraphs.

Several quirks of not being from the USA, including but not limited to:
- Bringing examples from overseas, specifically Spain, on threads in the General Highway Talk, a National board.
- Saying I don't have a definite answer on threads with a title starting with "Which States" or something like that.

Also, I stick to the unified state route nomenclature, that of SR xx, where "SR" denotes the state abbreviation. K-xx and M-xx defendants be damned, it's always KS xx and MI xx.

And like 1 I use semicolons.
Supporter of the construction of several running gags, including I-366 with a speed limit of 85 mph (137 km/h) and the Hypotenuse.

Please note that I may mention "invalid" FM channels, i.e. ending in an even number or down to 87.5. These are valid in Europe.

What do you do with Virginia, where SR specifically means secondary route?

Here's what I think is distinct about my style:

-Semicolons and ellipsis
-Heavy use of parentheses
-Inserting myself into random conversations about Buc-ee's all over the board
-I tend to make idiotic points in topics I don't know much about
-My style on linking GSV images seems to change every day

It took me awhile to become a regular on this forum due to being relocated south from my old stomping grounds of NJ, so I was inactive for a couple of years on this account. That being said, I don't consider myself to have that much of a particular style of forum posting. I'm more used to social media.

Very heavy use of parentheses (one every two sentences, usually).

I love these kinds of threads.

I always put a hyphon between the classification of a route and its number. Most of you only do so for Interstates. I think the hyphon makes it look cleaner and more official.

When posting about Wisconsin county highways (which I rarely do because they're not very exciting), I refer to them as "CTH-(letter)". CTH stands for County Trunk Highway, which is WISDOT's official term. Not that it really matters, I just don't know what else to call them.

If the post is a rant in the NFL thread, there's about an 80% chance it's me. If it's someone posting about being tired of the clamoring for the "corner cut", there's a 95% chance it's me. If you don't know what the corner cut is, read pages 120 and 121 of Wisconsin Notes for the most recent edition of Corner Cut Debate.

Oh and how could I forget, please donate today to fund the construction of I-19 from Portland OR to Ocean City.

I overdo it on semi-colons. I also overuse parentheses. When I re-edit my posts to fix typos, etc. I'll usually try to fix those problems, and also to break up run-on sentences.

Also true. And like a few others I use lots of parentheses (not lots, TONS!).

This is going to sound weird coming from me, but I really don't know.

Long sentences, I suppose. And I like to think my posts are typo-free, but I'm not perfect on that front either.

That's kind of what I was thinking; not about you specifically, but just as a general point: what is the usefulness of this thread when we can easily tell who posted what?

(This reminds me... I always trim down the quote to what I'm replying to. :pan:)

There's truth to what you say regarding NY 104 (since it's one of the freeways I use most often) but plenty of people mention Rochester on here. Empirestate and vdeane are originally from here, and there's also Rochester, MN and Rochester, NH.
