I've been listening to Catherine Wheel for more than 30 years. I got into them when I saw the video to "Waydown" and I was blown away. Be sure to listen to the rest of their stuff. I think Ferment is actually one of their weaker albums along with Wishville, even though they both have some great songs on them. Chrome, Happy Days and Adam and Eve are top notch. Be sure to check out the B-side compilation Like Cats and Dogs. It flows better than most albums do. Also, check out Rob Dickinson's solo album Fresh Wine for the Horses. And a live version of "Black Metallic" with the long jam at the end. One of the greatest bands of all time and one of the most underrated and underappreciated bands ever. Congratulations on discovering a band that is little known by the mainstream but highly influential among musicians.

I picked up Springsteen's Nebraska expanded edition reissue that came out this past weekend and I have the 2025 remaster of the original album playing now. The sound is fantastic in terms of making you realize what he was doing with that recording when he performed everything at home. The sound is rougher than you'd get on something recorded in a regular studio, and I think the remaster brings out the rough aspects far more than I ever noticed on the original version.

Next up is Electric Nebraska, the long-rumored but never heard E Street Band attempt at recording most of the material (though not the same track list as the album that was ultimately released).

Edited to add: Electric Nebraska was interesting. I think the acoustic album was the right one to have released, but the electric version certainly lets you hear the genesis of later live performances of some of the songs. It also contains early versions of two songs from Born in the USA—the title track and "Downbound Train." Both of them have more of a "snarling" tone, for lack of a better word, than the familiar versions we've heard for 41 years. The way "Born in the USA" was performed on Electric Nebraska is probably closer to the song's meaning than the version that was eventually released and that has been widely misunderstood as some sort of anthem.

If the one on 18 Tracks is the same acoustic version as the one on the full four-disc Tracks set, it's not the same version. I had not heard this version before. The arrangement is closer to the acoustic one than to the original full-band version, but the sound has more "sting" to it, for lack of a better word.

Catherine Wheel were one of those bands I got into while I was in Europe more than 30 years ago and shortly forgot about. I and a few Brit buddies hung round after a concert in Germany and got to hang out with them at a nearby restaurant.

I used to work in the returns warehouse at a publishing company.  Some of our customers were middle-man distributors for big box stores like Sam's Club and Wal-Mart and such.  Those distributors dealt in such high volumes that, if they mistakenly sent us returns that weren't actually our product, they determined it wasn't even worth the cost of re-processing them, so we warehouse workers could just pick through them and keep whatever we wanted.  I got a few good CDs that way, including Poem by Delerium.

I've heard of them. They had a decently popular hit with Sarah McLachlan. They're actually a side project of an industrial band called Front Line Assembly.

I've been listening to them for almost 30 years. I heard the song "Silence" (their most well-known song) and decided to buy the Karma album. I ended up buying their other albums. It's good music to drive at night to.
