Today, Vietnam is run by a pro-Capitalist government that is friendly with the US and hates China. So really, we did win the Vietnam war.

That's called losing the war and winning the peace.  Vietnam never had a great deal of love for China, and only made friends with them during the war out of necessity.  If we hadn't tried to prop up the South Vietnam government, it would have saved a whole lot of trouble. Clue:  if the former colonial power, with a lot of insider knowledge, a language many of the population spoke, and all the guns and money we could send them could not prevail, we won't either.

Wow, we're coming on on the half century anniversary of the last helicopters out of Saigon.

Also, the secondary goal was containment in a worst-case scenario, which while Laos did turn over to a communist government, beyond that the fear of it spreading throughout SE Asia mostly did not happen due to US interventions.

I don't know why, but nearly every time I see a car with Québec plates it's being driven by an older man, so seeing one driven by a young woman made me do a double-take.  It's especially unusual these days given how much Canadian travel to the US has dropped in recent months (and was never especially common on the I-90 parts of the Thruway).

No, it's more like...

The Naugrim Québécois were ever, as they still remain, short and squat in stature;  they were deep-breasted, strong in the arm, and stout in the leg, and their beards were long.  Indeed this strangeness they have that no Man nor Elf has ever seen a beardless Dwarf Québécois—unless he were shaven in mockery, and would then be more like to die of shame than of many other hurts that to us would seem more deadly.  For the Naugrim Québécois have beards from the beginning of their lives, male and female alike;  nor indeed can their womenkind be discerned by those of other race, be it in feature or in gait or in voice, ...

Heh, I watched a Star Trek Enterprise episode this weekend that had a guy who looked like Andy Reid.

My wife just asked me if she could change the channel.  My response was "yes, so long as it isn't Big Bang Theory."  The first thing she selected was a Hotel Transylvania movie...it might be an early bedtime.

I believe airport terminals are the only places which have a posted "oops, you missed it...go around; we won't tell anyone" second opportunity for drivers.

See the U-Turn for Boston on I-90 westbound...

Wow, I had no idea that is a thing, anywhere.  :-D

Looks it might have been for a RIRO just a bit east which is no longer active or no longer open to the public?

Molandfreak

Now that's interesting. It looks like the purpose of it might be to give access to westbound I-90 from the eastbound-only entrance ramp at Huntington Avenue.

But it goes westbound to eastbound...

Eh, I think it just helps with all the screwy ramps on the Pike Extension and gives people a way to go back to the city if they head the wrong way.

A similar example is westbound Exit 1 on I-10 in Louisiana, which is just a U-turn ramp that puts you on eastbound I-10.

I was watching the sequence near the ending of Aliens where Ripley goes into the Xenomorph nest to rescue Newt.  Said sequence has a 15 minute warning countdown in the background indicating when the fusion power plant will explode.  The segment is actually 15 minutes in real time.
