When it comes to the "default" state speed limit, NY does not seem to post any speed limit signage within a road network where this limit applies. In other words, if you turn off a road where the speed limit was 55 mph, you can assume the road you turn on to will be 55 mph too unless it is signed otherwise. In this case, the limit is likely posted somewhere along NY 52 and NY 17B, and that suffices for all of NY 52A.
