Or townships incorporating in general provided there is a referendum.

Ah, the Mary Hannah incident.  I don't recall seeing what her eye color was when tolbs was doxing her.

Flying in coach, despite being 6'4". I can normally spread my legs out wide enough that I'm not really bothered for flights less than 3 hours or so. If it's a longer flight than that, normally I'll pay some more for an extended legroom seat.

Minor changes to plans or schedules
Occasional extreme temperatures (<10, >90), though more than a week straight does bother me and could be considered major

Max Rockatansky

I don't think that I've worked my planned schedule one single week this entire year?  There is almost something that requires I be flexible and change my plans up.  Tomorrow is a good example as I was going to work 9:30 AM-6 PM but now am working 6 AM-2:30 PM.

It cracks me up that you think anything over 90°F is an 'extreme temperature'.  :-D

Same. At our humidity levels in Nevada, 90°F feels downright pleasant, especially if there's a breeze going.

Here, it's hard to consider anything "extreme" if it's under 115°F.

I was rolling my eyes last night when the weatherman on our local NBC affiliate was talking about how "chilly" it would be at 7:00 this morning (she forecast 62°, which was pretty close—it was 59° where I live) and talking about how everyone would need to wear long sleeves and jackets. A number of them act like anything under 70° is chilly, anything under 55° is bitterly cold, and anything over 85° is scorching hot.

If they say something like ...

Well, folks, just like the last few weeks, and just like the next couple of months to come, you can basically just walk out the door in jeans and a tee-shirt, maybe a sweatshirt in the morning, and you'll be fine, no reason to even bother checking the weather because it's no longer July and not yet November.

... then people will stop watching.

But with Great Lakes/East Coast humidity levels, anything over 90°F is extreme.

Yeah, you guys are tough, I know. You should go bike 60 miles in that weather like I did back in June and let me know how you're holding up . . .

I guess my definition of "extreme" is more dependent on the extent of things I can do outside, rather than whether I spontaneously combust.

Having lived in both climates, here's my personal definition:

Climate    Bad             Extreme
Dry           10°F/95°F   0°F/105°F
Humid      20°F/85°F   10°F/95°F

It's Nevada, so I would expect to get no further than a third of the way through that before getting run over by a drunk driver.

In more recent years I have been seeing an increasing trend of people (especially younger mothers) being scared into their cozy cubby holes by the popular press weather guys or gals for either very hot or very cold, but fully NORMAL, weather.  As kids, we just dressed for it and went on with our lives.  As a high schooler, the ONLY exposure that I ever had to 'wind chill factor' was in a WWII related military dressing guide chart in the back pages of my Boy Scout Field Manual.

I thought 76F and 70% yesterday was a worse feeling running condition than the 95F and 30% humidity I ran in a couple weeks back during an afternoon.  I know the reality is very different when it comes to dehydration, but that dry weather is felt so much more comfortable.

They didn't have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones.

How would one know that more people are staying in their cozy places unless you're spying on them?

That was for WWI. The onion was to keep people away during the 1918 pandemic due to the bad smell.

That's still a lot of tracking/meddling/oversharing.

I must say, kids are a lot less willing to go outside during hot or cold weather nowadays compared to when I was a kid.  However, I'm not sure that's the mothers' fault.  They might not be booting them out the door and telling them to suck it up and go play, but I'm not so sure they're refusing to let them go outside either.
