How do highway numbers used as street names change when the highway is rerouted?

From my travels, I've seen three main approaches:

1. Adding "Old" or "Business" to the name, like was dome for the former routing of MO 7 in Camdenton when the bypass was built

2. Giving the road a new name not previously used, such as Osage Beach, Missouri (near the Lake of the Ozarks) did with the old alignment of US 54 along that resort town's main commercial strip, calling it "Osage Beach Parkway" after the freeway bypass was opened (pre-bypass, the former route was just called "Highway 54" with no other name)

3. Just keeping the name as is, like what O'Fallon, Illinois (an east suburb of St. Louis) did with regards to the main east-west road through town - address along that road are still designated as being on "West US 50" or "East US 50" even after US 50 itself was rerouted onto I-64

Anyway, what I'm curious about is as follows: throughout the country, do you know of any examples of cities, towns or counties where one of the streets or roads was just called by the highway number with no other street name (such as, for example, having a house with the address of "723 North Highway 93" in a town along US 93), but where the highway in question was bypass or otherwise realigned so that it no longer follows the same road? And how did those jurisdictions change the street name (or not) as a result of the reroute?

The parts of what were once AL 20 east of I-65 in Huntsville just remained "Highway 20" or "Alabama Highway 20" after the highway was truncated to I-65.
It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.
