Tanker Fire Shuts Down I-471 in Kentucky

This happened last night. I-471 is currently closed at the first Newport exit southbound, and at the US 27 Fort Thomas exit going north. The fire torched the bridge carrying KY 1120 over the interstate (and I may be understating it).

And what, not even 2 years ago, I-471 was shut down for weeks over the Ohio River when someone set fire to a playground below it on the Ohio side.

Hopefully the trucker's insurance covers the repairs. it's going to suck for commuters for a while.

Seems to always happen near a bridge nowadays.

KYTC says that there is no structural damage to the KY 1120 overpass. They're currently milling and repaving the interstate lanes, which may re-open later today. The overhead sign for exit 3 hanging off the bridge, the barrier wall and full resurfacing will occur later.
