Quote from: ElishaGOtisWasn't Bill Gates planning some massive development centered along the planned I-11 at I-10 at one point?

8 years ago an investment firm owned by Gates bought over 24,000 acres of land West of the Buckeye area, supposedly to build what would be a "smart city." So far it doesn't look like any actual construction plans have been put into motion. Considering where things in the tech industry are currently headed, with so much focus on AI, building something like a "smart city" for people may now seem like a waste of money. Tech industry people may become more obsessed with building big data centers.

It was said Gates was meddling with egg markets and futures.   Hickman Farms is a very large poultry operation W of Phoenix.

I recall running into that traffic light in 2023 and being surprised it was there.  I take it people were having a hard time making a left turn from that travel plaza on northbound US 93?

Didn't a traffic signal go in instead of the interchange design, so maybe bzzzt, bzzzt to the second responder of this chain.  Or is this another location?
Interstates help avoid accidents at these locations.

That was the second traffic light.  Pierce Ferry at least makes more sense given Dolan Springs has a decent amount of people living out there.  I dunno, I tend think regressive steps like putting in traffic lights doesn't bode well for near term limited access conversion.

Agreed.  If AZDOT was planning to upgrade this to I-11 any time soon, they'd just build the interchange.  The fact that they built a light means that they think it's going to be a while.

Aren't they planning to bypass Wickenburg and then build new terrain to the south?

Yes, out in the Vulture Mountains.
