Hi my name is "JAC" and I am a roadgeek, specifically on North Carolina's routes, since I live here. I have already read many great posts and look forward to interacting with everyone...

Thank you AARoads for giving me a way to express my life-long interest in highways and interstates!!

EDIT: on my new sig- I am going to change "traveled" to "driven" ;)

Life is a highway and I drive it all night long!

Olive Garden must be stopped.  I must stop them.

Greetings guys, and thank you for the reception. I do have a question though, how do I add pictures inside a reply? I see there is an icon for images (jpg, gif, etc) but when I add one and preview it, it doesn't show. Will it show when I post? Just don't want to post one until I know it will be up.

Thanks, JAC

Where are you hosting the picture online?  If you're hosting it on Photobucket, all you have to do is copy the line from "IMG code" that they provide you and paste it in here. (See below)

That code above will produce this:

Just remember to keep image width at 800 or below. ;)

In other words, if it is just a file on my computer or jump drive (thank you for confirming the size), I can't attach it? It has to come from say, photobucket, flickr, or Facebook?

Correct.  You can't upload attachments to the site.  You can only link (or use the IMG code) to post them in the forums.

Thanks for that confirmation rickmast.

No problem and welcome to the site. ;)

Oh, and I see you're into clinching highways as well, might want to check out this site. ;)

Welcome to the forum. I spent three years living in Durham while attending Duke Law and I've driven through a good portion of North Carolina. Came back from Montgomery, Alabama, via I-59 to Chattanooga and then over the mountains to Murphy one time just because I was sick of I-85. Murphy is a LONG WAY from the Triangle and maps don't do it justice, do they?

Every time I drive through North Carolina I still smile with approval at the white "Reduce Speed Ahead" signs. While I prefer the newer yellow signs that tell you what the reduced speed limit will be, I've always favored North Carolina's "Reduce Speed Ahead" over the erroneous "Reduced Speed Ahead" depicted in the MUTCD and used in most states because it's the speed LIMIT that's reduced ahead, and in most cases many (perhaps most) drivers do not reduce their actual speed at all. North Carolina's sign is more correct because it's telling you to reduce your speed, with the implied but unstated corollary that it's because of a reduced limit.

commenting on the Capitals clinching a playoff spot.

"That sounded stupid, didn't it?"
—Kolzig, to the same reporter a few seconds later.
