I just drove from Denver to Breckenridge, CO today and the scenery was amazing! Here are some of the photos I think turned out the best:

On I-70 heading west (somewhere west of Denver)

On I-70 heading west just before CO 9

On CO 9 heading south to Breckenridge

Interstate bridge southbound.  Vancouver, Washington.

Thanks for posting this!! I absolutely love that I-5 bridge across the Oregon/Washington border, and it is actually one of my favorites of all time. This is a very intriguing alternate view of it. It truly is beautiful!

Thank you very much.  This is also one of my favorite bridges.  This view shows the southbound span, which was built in 1958.  It is very similar to the original northbound span, which opened in 1917.  Unfortunately, these bridges have outlived their usefulness.  It's a major traffic bottleneck, and there doesn't seem to be any relief in sight.  This crossing was already obsolete and over capacity the year it was built.  No improvements have been made since, save for the elimination of the toll booth.

I love taking shots like this.  Bridge shots are always tricky at night, when you are using a tripod.  On a  bridge at night, every car that goes by causes the ground to vibrate, which makes your camera jump, causing your pictures to come out blurry.  I had to take this picture nine different times, just waiting for a lull in the traffic, and even then I got a semi truck in there.

It’s been awhile since I took any real road photos, but here are a few of a section of Old Wagner Road in Petersburg, VA. I took these the other day with my Canon 50D, using a 55-250 lens. The road is still open to traffic but almost nobody uses it past the few houses on it.

Mansfield Dam and the FM 620 bridge over the Colorado northwest of Austin. Isn't this spooky lighting great? Yes, it is. I took this with my phone, and the glare was such that I could barely even see the screen, so I took the shot (OK, several shots), hoped for the best, and got it.

I'm embarrassed to admit that, while I knew of the verdant hills on that side of the city, I was unaware that they stretched so far until my daughter and son-in-law took us to a restaurant on the shore of Lake Travis. This is 19 miles by road from downtown Austin.

I took this photo a few years ago.  I was scrolling through some pictures today and I though I'd share it.  This might be the coolest looking sky I have ever captured.  This was taken on Route 214 in Quebec back in 2014:

This is my all-time favorite (at least from my own pictures): the I-80/Bangerter interchange, with the Oquirrh Mountains and Great Salt Lake in the background. Taken after departing SLC, which is off the right edge of the photo.

I'm going to add a couple of photos again...  I always feel kind of wierd dropping photos in a "best of" thread.  It seems kind of egotistical.  I just like sharing photos though:

California Highway 330:

http://www.asphaltplanet.ca/CA/CA/330/CA330_cl_SBD-33-4_south_Apr18_24x16.jpg

A recent photo of a 401 expansion project just west of Toronto:

I shared this in the Ontario Highways subforum, but I like this photo.  This is of the 407 extension in Durham Region, Ontario.  They had just started paving when I took this photo:

Took this one this morning, there is a lot going on in this picture.  Primarily the most obvious thing is Old US 40/Donner Pass Road snaking down Donner Pass.  Just below Donner Pass Road on the right the Old Dutch Flat & Donner Lake Road which was part of the Lincoln Highway can be seen.  I-80 can be seen on the opposite ridge descending Donner Summit.  I was standing on the China Wall on the abandoned alignment of the First Transcontinental Highway:

Took a trip to Cumberland this weekend, something long overdue for me (seeing photos of the Cumberland Thruway/I-68 inspired so much curiosity in my 12-year-old self).  I truly thought it was an incredibly beautiful town in the middle of the mountains.  The view from I-68 is very impressive.

That view of the Sideling Hill is so iconic.  That might have been the first view of a highway through Appalachia that I first saw when I got into this hobby.

I spent about 45 minutes at the rest stop just staring in awe at the rock cut and running around taking photos.  I almost cried from the beauty of the area and the cut.

Not sure why but I really dig how this photo of Signed County Route J16 on Hornitos Road came out.  Something kind of pops with the hill, partly cloudy sky, and fall grass in the Sierra Foothills:

I dig it purely based on the fact that it looks to be a really fun road.

It is, especially east of Snelling to Bear Valley.  Lots of little old mining communities and ghost towns along the way to pull over and see to boot.
