Here's a simple sign salad in Fort Wayne, IN.
What was on the blank posts next to the NORTH 27 trailblazer signs?

Unfortunetely even the oldest GSV of this spot shows nothing on the blank posts.
https://www.google.ca/maps/@41.116562,-85.14802,3a,45.6y,325.55h,105.12t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1stVW-Tx0j4vsShix6DVV75A!2e0!7i3328!8i1664

It is possible it could have had a "To: IN 3" sign on it.

Found this salad in Hamilton, OH.

Didn't that assembly at one time have one of the Ohio state route signs with the image of the state backwards?

I am not sure of that. It is possible it did.

That same salad from 2008. Check out the OH 177 sign on the left.

What are all those little numbers at the bottom of each sign?

Paul

I will hazard a bet that the numbers indicate the year the sign was made & installed.  They had started to do this on signs in Utah several years back.

Yes, that is what those numbers mean. The "7" indicates a 1987 or 1997 install, while the "02" indicates a 2002 install. Wyoming only posted one digit through the 80s/90s, and in the late 90s they shifted to two digits (such as 99, 00, 01, 02, etc.). The digit gives a good indication as to age of sign assembly. Wyoming is pretty diligent about replacing signs once they reach 10-15 years of age.

Many more sine salads like these that I've taken over the years in Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Idaho. You can see them on the AARoads Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.474861882947.261621.181045197947&type=3.

It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

It looks like OH 177 is now truncated to where OH 129 splits off from it and OH 128 is truncated to where it junctions US 127 south of this assembly.

According to goog and OSM OH 177 is multiplexed with OH 129 AND OH 128 to OH 4.

Here is an Italian sine salad. Some months ago a viaduct on A19 autostrada in Sicily collapsed, forcing traffic to do a long detour through local roads. Since local authorities were doing nothing about that, another party built a shortcut. Notice the politician ban on this road :-D.

Not erroneous at all.  Clearly it's in a port area - it's simply telling motorists to turn left to access all of these routes.

BTW, the open spot appears to be for a missing US 9 shield: https://goo.gl/maps/hECXn

Yes and yes.  This sign is where you exit from the economy lot at Newark Liberty Int'l Airport, which is also near Port Newark-Elizabeth.

Every one of these from this town in AL are just crying out for a (or multiple) BGS.  Too much info to soak in--not enough time to process it all.  Maybe 3 medium overheads, 1 with all the routes to the left, another with the straight-aheads, and the other with the ones going right.

They could start by taking out all the 'TO' routes.

Though there doesn't appear to be one for that particular approach, many of them are accompanied by overhead signage, albeit with not as much detail.

31 individual sign segments in that salad.  I think we have a winner!!!

I feel like New York salad is underrepresented, and I saw some a couple weeks ago in Ticonderoga.  So here it is.

Those shields on top don't look all that great, especially with how the numbers on the I-87 shield are off centered.

Louisiana isn't too big on sine salads, but here are a few intersections with multiple routes intersecting.

This is along LA 182 just west of Downtown Houma where LA 311 and LA 312 terminate.

US 371 at US 79 and US 80 at Dixie Inn, LA (Minden)

At the east end of the US 79 and US 80 concurrency in Minden, LA. I just realized the 79 and 80 add up to 159 here.

Just north of Downtown Monroe, LA

Along LA 1 and Bus. LA 28 in Alexandria just before they cross under I-49. Business US 165 no longer uses this routing, and when it did, the Bus 167 sign really needed a "TO" banner above it as you reach it at the next intersection.

US 80 in West Monroe, LA just west of LA 143 and appraching the Lea Joyner Bridge over the Ouachita River. Just 2 highway signs and lots of extras.

This may be the most signs together for Louisiana and it's due to 2 sets of intersecting routes. Downtown Shreveport, LA
