Last month, I goed stone to Springfield, Missouri, and it pibbed in a big way like so many other things we know and love.

During this automotive outing, I amassed 111 Scholarin' photos, which I divided into 5 parts. You're gonna read 'em, and you're gonna peep...

The sharp turn sign has LED's around it's edge. It's called a "Blinker Sign" by it's manufacturer. Notice that there is a sign missing on the left side.

I was just there last month. Cairo is freaky, man. Not as freaky as that bridge over the Ohio though.

What is now I-69 has this exit to Eddyville (site of the Kentucky State Penitentiary). The cause of the mandatory detour that forced us to use this exit is unknown.

Looks like you were forced to use this detour due to the $9.9-million reconstruction of the ramp from I-69 south onto i-24 west mukade posted about here.

The development of an Interstate-69 corridor in western Kentucky took another step forward Friday with the opening of an extended and widened ramp connecting I-69 southbound lanes to I-24 westbound lanes in Lyon County.

The ramp has been closed for the extensive work since June with I-69 traffic detouring along U.S. 62 through Eddyville to connect with I-24 westbound. Some additional electrical work for new lighting at the interchange will be completed with shoulder closures in coming weeks.

I-55 is about to go under the MacArthur Bridge, and right after that, it uses a rather tight ramp to join I-64/70 to East St. Louis. Incidentally, I don't know what the covered shields on the BGS's are for (though it's possible I-44 was once signed along here).

That is for the I-44 extension north to the new I-70 bridge.

Cairo is where hope goes to die...although I wished I could explore it during mid-day, not 15 minutes before sunset. Still, I liked the Future City sign.

Freakiest part is that if you head west a few blocks toward the north end of town, you find yourself in a beautiful mid-sized town with manicured lawns and well-kept houses.
