How often do you have April Fool's Day jokes in maps? (Like making anything with "us30=yes" show as Quebec Route 366 in OpenStreetMap.) Do any do it at all, or is it a bad idea?

EDIT: This belongs in off-topic, doesn't it...
Mileage-based exit numbering implies the existence of mileage-cringe exit numbering.

It does have to do with maps, so why not? I think it would be a quite bad idea, because people need to get directions that work.

I would get the joke, and I'm sure several others on here would too.  But, really, how many people out there would?

Or you can rig everything that has "ref=I 74" change to "ref=I 74;I 465".  :sombrero:

I'd renumber everything to I-238 :D.

But here it won't happen until December 28th, so who knows.
Supporter of the construction of several running gags, including I-366 with a speed limit of 85 mph (137 km/h) and the Hypotenuse.

Please note that I may mention "invalid" FM channels, i.e. ending in an even number or down to 87.5. These are valid in Europe.

Looks like Google got started on April Fool's day a bit early.  That or it's just an easter egg.

They didn't start early. It's already April 1st in the far east, don't forget.
If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

You're on about the treasure button on Google Maps?

I've posted a few road-related April Fool's Day jokes to my site over the years.  Last year, Long Island was getting a bridge to nowhere that would be designated NY 27K and connect the South Fork to Gardiner's Island, a privately owned island that's not accessible to the public.

And I posted another Google Maps April Fools screenshot, but I modified the "image date" so you can guess if the BGS is that old!  :sombrero:

I think the treasure street view works better with the old blurry imagery myself.

Excellent idea, but poorly executed in terms of April Fools Day. The article's funny, but not something believable. And April Fools Day is written so blatantly several times across the article.

AFD stuff has to be both absurd, but believable as truth. There has to be a chance that real stories get treated like AFD pranks. There's some good ones here. The Google Treasure Maps Video works as one, but you are more likely to have found the maps first and treat it like an Easter Egg (like typing Google into Bing and getting a page that mocks Google's).

Believe it or not, there are some people who like that.  And some people who are paranoid about getting sued.  I've even stopped reading Clarkson's student newspaper on April 1 because they change people/place names in such a way that what could have been funny turns out to be incredibly stupid; the only one that's even halfway decent is the changing of "Clarkson Integrator" to "Clarkson Instigator".
