Alabama State Route 17

Alabama State Route 17 overlays U.S. 45 north from Mobile 43.05 miles to Washington County, where SR 57 takes over along the northernmost 16.13 miles. The portion of SR 17 along U.S. 45 in Washington County is fully posted. Near Deer Park, SR 17 separates from U.S. 45 en route to the Clarke county seat of Chatom.

SR 17 continues north through Alabama's Black Belt region to U.S. 84 at Silas and I-20/59 at York. Passing well west of Tuscaloosa, SR 17 crosses U.S. 82 at Reform and combines with SR 96 west from Kennedy to Millport. Resuming north, SR 17 meets U.S. 278 at Sulligent and U.S. 43 in Hamilton.

North from Hamilton to Hackleburg, SR 17 is the state route counterpart of U.S. 43. SR 13 joins the two routes north through Russellville, Muscle Schoals and Florence. SR 17 extends 13.63 miles north from U.S. 43/72 in Florence to the Tennessee state line. The highway is 346.56 miles overall.
