Collier County Road 31 runs 10.0 miles north along Airport-Pulling Road from U.S. 41 (Tamiami Trail) outside the city of Naples to CR 846 (Immokalee Road) at North Naples. The arterial serves Naples Airport (APF), a bevy of golf course communities and two sprawling industrial park areas among other development. A second unsigned branch of County Road 31 lines Bayshore Drive south 1.4 miles from U.S. 41 to Thomasson Drive by Naples Botanical Garden.
Florida Secondary Road 31 was initially designated along Airport-Pulling Road north S-951 and Golden Gate Parkway to S-846 (Immokalee Road). A western branch lined Pine Ridge Road from Airport-Pulling Road to U.S. 41 (Tamiami Trail) as well. Airport-Pulling Road south of SR 84 (Davis Boulevard), and Bayshore Drive south from U.S. 41, were both a part of S-858.
Numbering made changes by January 1976 established all of Airport-Pulling Road as S-31 and the spur south along Bayshore Drive. S-31 along Pine Ridge Road became S-896.
