The 8.78 mile long route angles northwest from CR 54 at Branchborough to CR 535 (Old Lakeland Highway) at Richland. Overtaking Old Lakeland Highway, CR 35A continues north to a grade separated intersection with U.S. 98 near Ellerslie. Paralleling a CSX Railroad line, CR 35A connects with CR 25A (Clinton Avenue) west to Clinton Heights and U.S. 98/301 southeast of Downtown Dade City.
