Count Road 52 ALT - Clinton Avenue

Pasco County Road 52 ALT forms part of a southern bypass of Dade City with SR 52 along Clinton Avenue. Measuring 1.49 miles in length, CR 52A extends east from SR 52 at U.S. 98/301 to CR 35A (Old Lakeland Highway) on the south side of Dade City. Prior to March 2023 when SR 52 was realigned onto the Dade City bypass, CR 52A followed all 4.61 miles of Clinton Avenue east from CR 579 (Prospect Road). The planned realignment of U.S. 98 will further shorten CR 52A eastward.
Clinton Avenue was expanded to a four lane arterial between CR 41 (Fort King Road) and U.S. 98/301 in 2013/14. The realignment of State Road 52 to the south of San Antonio, St. Leo and Dade City overtook the westernmost 3.12 miles of CR 52A along Clinton Avenue. The four lane arterial extends west from what was CR 52A at CR 579 to Mc Cabe Road and CR 52 ahead of to Interstate 75. Construction on the relocation of SR 52 started in 2019 and runs to early 2024.
Prior to the extension of Pasco County Road 579 north along Handcart and Prospect Roads, CR 52 ALT tied into SR 52 directly via Prospect Road between Clinton Avenue and Happy Hill Road. CR 579 replaced this leg of CR 52 ALT.

U.S. 98/301 split just south of SR 52/CR 52A (Clinton Avenue). U.S. 98 angles southeast toward Lakeland while U.S. 301 remains south into the city of Zephyrhills.
