CR 55 (Kali Oka Road) was realigned north from College Parkway when SR 158 (Industrial Highway) was constructed. A roadway stub and grading remained from the former alignment.

What was originally a grade separated intersection was upgraded to a diamond interchange when SR 158 was expanded from two to four lanes in 2008. The corridor is part of the overall new U.S. 98 alignment stretching west from Interstate 65 at Exit 13 to the Mississippi state line.
