State Road 551 - Goldenrod Road

Florida State Road 551

SR 551 follows Goldenrod Road northward from SR 15 (Narcoosee Road) to Palmetto Avenue at Goldenrod. Palmetto Avenue extends the state road a short distance north to its end at SR 426 (Aloma Avenue). The Goldenrod Road Extension continues the arterial southward to SR 528 (Beachline Expressway) at Heintzelman Boulevard. Funded by the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX), construction on the toll road began in 2001. The $38 million roadway opened to traffic on March 12, 2003. CFX tolls will recoup costs for the Goldenroad Road Extension, with the arterial eventually turned over to the city of Orlando.1

Goldenrod Road was originally numbered as SR 15A.

FDOT Project 437634-1-52-01 will make safety improvements along SR 551 (Goldenrod Road) between SR 408 (East-West Expressway) and SR 50 (E Colonial Drive). These include resurfacing, constructing a raised median, traffic signal and turn lane improvements, and roadway widening to accommodate bike lanes. Construction on the 1.797 mile project is estimated to cost $7.7 million and anticipated for letting on April 28, 2021.
