State Road 655
Florida State Road 655 angles southeast from U.S. 92 (Memorial Boulevard) in Auburndale to connect with SR 620 and SR 540 in south Winter Haven. The 6.93 mile long state road parallels a CSX Railroad line for the bulk of its route, passing west of Inwood through unincorporated Polk County. Partially replaced by SR 559, Polk County Road 655 extended 8.73 miles north from U.S. 92 along Berkley Road to SR 33 in Polk City.
CR 655 along Berkley Road was added to the state highway system (SHS) as part of a jurisdictional transfer of SR 559 south of Fred C. Jones Boulevard (CR 559A) in north Auburdale to SR 655 (Recker Highway). 6.486 miles of CR 655 along Berkley Road, from U.S. 92 north to SR 559A (Fred C. Jones Boulevard), were inventoried in Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Straight Line Diagrams (SLD) on April 21, 2020. This section became part of a realignment for SR 559. CR 655 remains northward 2.238 miles from SR 559A to SR 33 in Polk City.
