State Route 85
SR 85 travels 96.46 miles from Columbus to Forest Park and Mountain View in the Clayton County suburbs of Atlanta. The state route commences west from U.S. 27/SR 1 (Veterans Parkway) along 14th Street at Downtown Columbus. SR 85 turns north along 2nd Avenue to Bibb City and SR 22CO, then east along Manchester Expressway.
Over a quarter of SR 85 coincides with U.S. 27 ALT, for 27.68 miles between U.S. 27/SR 1 (Veterans Parkway) at Manchester Expressway in Columbus and the Talbot County line north of Oak Mountain. SR 85 shifts east from U.S. 27 ALT through Manchester.
SR 85 combines with SR 74 for 25.70 miles north from Woodbury to Stars Mill northeast of Senoia. SR 85 extends north from there to Fayetteville, Kenwood and Riverdale. The state route concludes north just beyond SR 331 and west of Interstate 75.
South
The final reassurance marker for SR 85 stands along 14th Street just after the turn from 2nd Avenue south. Traffic lights at forthcoming 3rd Avenue were removed by 2018.
