Business Spur I-29 - North Sioux City

A 0.226 mile segment of Business Spur I-29P is on the state logs at North Sioux City. The spur links Exit 4 with old U.S. 77 / Highway 105 along Northshore Drive. The spur ran east along River Drive as an unsigned route from Exit 2 to Military Road (historic U.S. 77). This portion of route is locally maintained now.1
SF 105 was designated following the decommissioning of U.S. 77 from South Dakota in 1982. The state highway looped east from Interstate 29 through North Sioux City via River Drive, Military Road and Main Street to follow old U.S. 77 north to McCook and Jefferson. SD 105 returned to Interstate 29 via Dakota Street and Exit 9. 1998 legislation decommissioned the state highway south of Jefferson, although a short section from I-29 into Jefferson remained in the system until at least 2007. The route is now a part of Union County Road 1B otherwise.

Merrill Boulevard provides the main entrance to Gateway Business Park. The business park is the former home of Gateway, Inc. The facility employed over 6,000 employees at its peak in the late 1990s. However with the company purchased by Acer Inc. in 2007, nearly all jobs were shifted away from the corporate campus in North Sioux City.
