The first confirming marker for Interstate 55 south was previously posted between Exits 293 C/B along the Stevenson Expressway. The assembly was removed in 2016.

I-90/94 overlap another 4.04 miles south along the Dan Ryan Expressway from the Franklin Street Connector to the Chicago Skyway. I-90 branches southeast from there to East Chicago, Indiana while I-94 continues south to Calumet City.

Exit 292 links I-55 south with I-90/94 westbound directly. The inbound Dan Ryan Expressway heads 2.05 miles north from I-55 to I-290 (Eisenhower Expressway) at the Jane Byrne Interchange west of the Chicago Loop.
