Interstate 69

The Mississippi section of Interstate 69 spurs 13.15 miles west from the exchange joining I-55/269 in the DeSoto County seat of Hernando with U.S. 61 via Mississippi Highways 304 and 713 in Tunica County. The rural freeway joins the Memphis area with several casinos along the Mississippi River.

Representing the first leg of I-69 completed south of Indianapolis, Indiana, I-69 in northern Mississippi opened to traffic following a ribbon cutting ceremony held on October 2, 2006 (Ferguson, 2006). With approval from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) on May 6, 2008, the designation lengthened to include an overlap with I-55 north to the Tennessee state line.
