Elevating over the Topeka street grid, Interstate 70 curves south along the Polk-Quincy Viaduct into Downtown.

The narrow Polk-Quincy Viaduct was constructed in the early 1960s. Construction in the mid-2020s will replace the aging bridge system.

I-70 converges with the east end of Interstate 470 and the Kansas Turnpike at the East Topeka Interchange (Exit 366) where U.S. 40/K-4 turn north toward Tecumseh.

Interstate 70 east leads onto the Kansas Turnpike toward Lawrence beyond the directional T interchange (Exit 366) with the two lane freeway spur taking K-4 north to U.S. 24.

I-70 east at the toll collection point beyond the Oakland Expressway (U.S. 40/K-4). The East Topeka Interchange was constructed from 1997 to 2001.
