Interstate 79 South - Pittsburgh



Interstate 279 comprise an urban loop east from Exit 72 to Downtown Pittsburgh while I-79 bypasses the Steel City to the west.

Interstate 279 runs south to the North Shore in Pittsburgh, where Heinz Field (home of the Pittsburgh Steelers) and PNC Park (home of the Pittsburgh Pirates) are located.

Interstate 279 serves the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh including West View, Ben Avon Heights and Bellevue. The freeway enters the city limits of Pittsburgh nine miles to the south at U.S. 19 Truck (McKnight Road).

The south end of Interstate 279 connects the Fort Duquesne Bridge with I-376 (Penn-Lincoln Parkway) at the Fort Pitt Bridge.
