Business Loop I-94 through Valley City runs 4.08 miles north from I-94/U.S. 52. Following Old U.S. 10/52, the business route branches north at Exit 290 along 24th Avenue SW to connect with Main Street east into Valley City. Main Street runs through Downtown Valley City before crossing the Sheyenne River. The loop returns to I-94/U.S. 52 at Exit 294 via 34th Street SE.
The east end of Business Loop I-94 originally tied into I-94/U.S. 52 at a wye interchange with a left entrance ramp for eastbound. The wide median east of the CN Railroad and Exit 294 is leftover from the former exchange. The diamond interchange to the west with 34th Street SE was built in its place.
