Business Loop I-196 - Holland-Zeeland

The second business loop for Interstate 196 heading north travels 11.6 miles northward between Exits 44 and 55. The business route served downtown Holland directly via a cosign with former U.S. 31 Business along Washington Avenue, Michigan Avenue, River Avenue north to 8th Street (former M-21). Business Loop I-196 exited Holland for Zeeland along Chicago Drive. This alignment was removed from state control in 2004 and Business Loop I-196 shifted onto the U.S. 31 bypass of Holland to Zeeland. Signs were not made consistent along U.S. 31 until 2009.1
NorthA wye interchange separates U.S. 31 north from Interstate 196 north as Business Loop I-196 to Holland begins. The left side ramp follows the crossing of the North Branch of the Mactawa River.
U.S. 31 and Business Loop I-196 initially follow a freeway to Washington Avenue, where the business loop formerly departed for U.S. 31 Business toward Downtown Holland.
