I-476 meets I-276 at the Mid-County Interchange (Exit 20). I-276 extends the Pennsylvania Turnpike mainline east from I-76 at Valley Forge to I-95 near Bristol and the Delaware River Turnpike Toll Bridge to New Jersey.

The continuation of I-476 south from the Northeastern Extension onto the Mid-County Expressway is considered Exit 20. I-476 is a popular route between the west Philadelphia suburbs and I-95 at Chester.

The cloverstack interchange joining I-476 and I-276 at Exit 20 replaced a trumpet connecting the south end of PA 9 with the Pennsylvania Turnpike mainline. The final link along I-476 opened to traffic at Plymouth Meeting in 1992.

The Mid-County Expressway is better known as the Blue Route by locals. The ensuing ramp joins I-276 west just ahead of the Norristown Interchange (Exit 333) with Germantown Pike (SR 3053).
