Interstate 480
Traveling less than a mile in the Hawkeye State, Interstate 480 and the Gerald Ford Freeway cross the Missouri River on the Civil War General Grenville Dodge Memorial Bridge to a systems interchange with I-29 and W Broadway in Council Bluffs.

In 2021, construction commenced to completely overhaul the existing I-29/480/W Broadway interchange from a cloverleaf to a directional with high speed ramps between the two freeways and separate ramps to access W Broadway and 40th Street. A system of frontage roads along I-29 were also added for connections to W Broadway and the Council Bluffs street grid. The last ramp of the systems interchange opened to traffic October 2023, connecting I-29 south to I-480 west.
