Interstate H2 North

I-H2 commences north from the three-wye interchange with I-H1 rising onto a hill near Crestview. Signs referencing the route as Veteran's Memorial Freeway are posted at each end of Interstate H2.

Exit 5 A leaves I-H2 for Meheula Parkway (Route 7013) east. The four lane arterial serves a number of subdivisions spreading east from Interstate H2 between Kipapa and Waikakalaua Streams. Meheula Parkway provides the only access point to those residences from the freeway and Waipio Acres.

Exit 7 joins I-H2 north with Mililani Technology Park to the east and Route 99 (Kamehameha Highway) by Wheeler Army Airfield (AAF) to the west.

Wheeler Army Airfield was established in 1922 and played a pivotal role during World War II. In addition to being used for war purposes, the airfield was also used for the first Mainland to Hawai'i nonstop flight in 1927, in addition to Amelia Earhart's first solo flight between Hawai'i and California in 1935.¹

Connecting with Whitmore Avenue east to Whitmore Village, Route 80 travels 1.89 miles north through Wahiawa. Route 99 (Wilikina Drive) loops 3.00 miles west to Schofield Barracks and north back to Route 80.
