Iowa 22 (1st Street) east at Glasgow Street within the city of Riverside. The state highway travels through the business district.

Riverside is known as the future birthplace of Captain James T. Kirk, from the famed TV show, Star Trek. A monument to Captain Kirk sits behind the store fronts on the north side of 1st Street between Glasgow and Washburn Streets.

U.S. 218 and Iowa 27 share pavement north to Cedar Rapids and south to Donnellson. Iowa 27 follows all of the Avenue of the Saints Corridor, a multi-state route joining St. Louis, Missouri with the Twin Cities in Minnesota.

Eastbound Iowa 22 at the southbound on-ramp to U.S. 218/Iowa 27. U.S. 218 travels south 37 miles to Mount Pleasant and a short overlap with U.S. 34.
