Erroneous circle shields were posted along Route 136 in both directions between Interstate 195 and the Rhode Island state line. This assembly was replaced with a Junction I-195 shield by 2014.

Mast-arm supported traffic lights govern the movements between U.S. 6 (Grand Army of the Republic Highway) and Route 136 at North Swansea. U.S. 6 travels four miles northwest to Seekonk and five miles east to the Swansea town center. This set of signs was replaced by 2014.

Market Street narrows to two lanes at the crossing into Warren, Rhode Island. Route 136 continues south to Bristol and a merge with Route 114 north of the Mount Hope Bay Bridge. RI 114 continues the trek south to Newport.
