Route 316

MD 316 follows Appleton Road northward from MD 279 (Elkton Road) to MD 277 (Fletchwood Road / Elk Mills Road), east of Elk Mills. Totaling 2.67 miles, the state route passes through residential areas, an industrial park and a quarry between Elkton and Appleton Acres. Appleton Road is unnumbered beyond MD 279, but was previously a part of MD 316 another 0.9 miles north to Barksdale Road.

2016 MDOT traffic counts along MD 316 range from 4,391 vehicles per day (vpd) south of the I-95 overpass to 4,841 vpd north of it.
