Maryland Route 544 constitutes a major collector running 9.29 miles east from MD 213 (Church Hill Road) to U.S. 301 (Blue State Memorial Highway) in northern Queen Anne's County. Following Mc Ginnes Road, MD 544 provides an alternate route to Chestertown from U.S. 301. Inventoried by the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) as MD 544A, the 0.19 mile long eastern segment links U.S. 301 with MD 313 (Millington Road) between Sudlersville and Millington. MD 544 is discontinuous across U.S. 301 due to the use of J-turns.
