U.S. 1 separates from I-95 north along the Downtown Distributor (SR 970). The route is not signed along either freeway. Signage for U.S. 1 resumes at the east end of SR 970, where U.S. 1 dog legs south along SE 2nd Avenue onto SE 4th Street in Downtown Miami.
