Inventoried by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) as Route 006F, U.S. 6 travels along a 21.237 mile loop between I-70 at Dillon (Exit 205) and I-70 east of the Eisenhower Tunnel at Exit 216 in Clear Creek County. This section of U.S. 6 acts as an alternative route to the Eisenhower Tunnel for those vehicles prohibited to use it. Part of the circuitous route takes U.S. 6 over Loveland Pass, located on the Continental Divide between Grizzly Peak and Mount Sniktau in northern Summit County.
