U.S. 6/20 combine with U.S. 42 south from Ontario Street and the ends of U.S. 322/422 at Public Square. The first shield for U.S. 42 preceded W Roadway along Superior Avenue westbound.

U.S. 6/20 formerly remained on Superior Avenue across Public Square in Downtown Cleveland. Redevelopment of the square moved U.S. 6/20 onto Rockwell Avenue and the east and west Roadways to the north. U.S. 6/20 combine west along Superior Avenue to Ohio City.

U.S. 6/20/42 span the Cuyahoga River across the Veterans Memorial Bridge west to the Ohio City neighborhood.

Opened in 1918, the double-deck bridge over the Cuyahoga River carries four lanes of traffic. The lower deck carried street cars until 1954 and is currently unused.¹
