U.S. 30 East - Tama to Cedar Rapids

U.S. 30

A $225 million project widens the last two lane section of U.S. 30 between Tama and Cedar Rapids. A new westbound roadway is being built generally along the north side of the previous two-lane highway. Grading and tree removal started in 2017 on the 27 mile stretch to U.S. 218 in Benton County. A parclo B2 interchange was built at U.S. 218 in 2019 and a diamond interchange was later constructed at Iowa 21.1

Construction started in 2018 along U.S. 30 east 11.2 miles from Tama to Iowa 21 and a two mile segment of U.S. 30 at the exchange with U.S. 218. Work on these sections wrapped up in 2020 ahead of 2021-24 work along the 11.45 mile portion of U.S. 30 between Iowa 21 and U.S. 218.1
