Leaving Sabula, U.S. 52/Iowa 64 (Broad Street) cross over the Mississippi River overflow bridge between Towne Lake and the river's main channel. A 1933-built truss bridge spanned the waterway until February 27, 2018, when construction to replace it ran into an issue. The span was subsequently demolished during the week of March 5.1

Imploded on March 9, 2018, the Savanna-Sabula Bridge stayed in service for 85 years. With a metal deck of just 20 feet in width, the travel lanes were narrow by modern standards.
